Mouthguards and Nightguards

MouthguardsDo you grind your teeth or clench your jaw while you’re sleeping? Do you play a sport that requires you to wear a mouthguard? Hill Crest Dental can work with you to create a custom-made nightguard or mouthguard whatever your needs may be.

What is a Nightguard?

A nightguard is to be worn while you’re sleeping to prevent damage caused by unknowingly grinding or clenching your teeth. A nightguard helps to absorb the pressure created by grinding or clenching and prevent potential damage to your teeth. It helps to relax your jaw muscles which can in turn help prevent other symptoms of grinding/clenching like headaches and sore jaws.

What is a Mouthguard?

A mouthguard is an important part of your sports equipment that is essential for preventing facial and head injuries during sports. A mouthguard not only protects your teeth, it provides protection to your cheeks, tongue, lips, lower jaw, neck and brain in the event of physical contact to your facial area during sports. Your mouthguard cushions blows that may otherwise cause substantial damage to your teeth, mouth or other areas surrounding your head.

If you need a customized nightguard or mouthguard, Dr. Min can create one for you using molds taken of your teeth. Dr. Min and his dental team can also provide you with advice on how to best utilize and care for your nightguard or mouthguard.
