Antibiotic Therapy

AntibioticsOccasionally antibiotic therapy is needed to treat bacterial infection caused by plaque buildup that could lead to periodontal disease.

As part of your regular treatment such as root planning and scaling, we may recommend antibiotic therapy to fully eliminate the disease causing bacteria. While there are surgical options for treating periodontal disease, our preference is to first try all non-surgical options. Antibiotic therapy is good step to take prior to considering surgery to treat the disease.

For more serious cases, antibiotic therapy could be a pre-surgical treatment to improve the overall health of the tissues and minimize the area requiring surgery.
